Halotherapy for Horses

Humans have been using halotherapy for centuries as a way to help treat respiratory issues, skin conditions, and the stresses of everyday life. Halotherapy for horses allows horses to experience these same benefits! Extensive research and development have been done in order to come up with the best way to administer this type of therapy to horses.

A special chamber is designed specifically for your horse. Depending on the space that you have available, SALT Chamber may be able to come up with a plan for multiple horses to take part in the therapy session at the same time. While taking part in a halotherapy session the horse inhales salt and absorbs it into the skin. The salt is dispersed from a machine called a halogenerator. Halotherapy, or salt therapy, is primarily used to assist with chronic and acute respiratory conditions. It also helps with skin conditions and the horse’s overall health and well-being.

When it comes to racing horses, it has been determined that both pre- and post-race salt therapy sessions are beneficial for the horse. Before a race, a halotherapy session serves as a pick-me-up and prepares the horse to perform to the best of their ability. After a race, it allows the horse to wind down and clears the airways.

Additional benefits for the horse include, but are not limited to:

  • Reduced need for medications and antibiotics
  • Easier breathing
  • Clear respiratory tract
  • Improved skin
  • Enhance performance
  • A body cleansed of toxins and cellular pathogens
  • Increased immune system performance
  • Quicker recovery time
  • Improved health and quality of life
  • Reduced anxiety
